Taking to the Highways This Summer

A recent survey conducted by Bridgestone reveals that more than 50 percent of us plan to travel to our vacation destinations using our vehicles. Almost four out of five participants expressed they feel safer in a car rather than any other mode of transportation and almost one-third indicated they plan to drive more than 500 miles by car this summer.

While states are easing restrictions and public gatherings are coming back, only 13 percent said they would go to crowded spaces, such as amusement parks. Nearly half of the survey participants indicated they will use their vacation time to travel to visit friends and family.

During the pandemic, many of us delayed routine vehicle maintenance, which is why it is so important to take simple steps to ensure our cars are road trip ready. A fun and successful trip starts long before you put your suitcases in the trunk. It starts with being proactive and taking your vehicle to your nearest dealer for a check on tires, batteries, and air conditioning to start.

Tires: A lonely stretch of road in west Texas with a flat tire is not the place you want to find yourself. Before you go, schedule a tire and alignment check with a trained technician. Ask them to make sure the tire pressure is set to the recommendations in the car’s manual. Ask them to look at the tire patterns as well. If the tread isn’t deep enough or there’s too much wear, you won’t have any traction on the highway.

Air Conditioning: Did you know that temperatures in a hot car can quickly reach 150 degrees or more? That’s why you can’t risk heading out on vacation if your air conditioning is not in prime condition. As temperatures climb, your A/C unit has to work harder to keep the interior cool. Before you head out, check your fluid levels and make sure your battery and electrical systems are in good working order. If it blows cold and warm air intermittently, you probably have a leak in your A/C system. Have your service agent check to see if there is plenty of refrigerant in the system and that there are no leaks eating away at your cars seals, valves, and hoses.

Battery: To see if your battery is healthy, get into your vehicle at night and turn on your car’s headlights for 15 minutes without starting the engine. Then, start the car and look at the headlights. If they dim noticeably, you will likely need to replace the battery.

Cleanliness:  To keep your vehicle fresh during the summer months, NuVinAir can give you a clean and healthy environment inside your car. NuVinAir’s patented technology cleans your vehicle’s air in minutes.  Powered by chlorine dioxide, each treatment generates a dry, hygienic gas which fills the vehicle’s interior and penetrates deeply into all surfaces. The gas rapidly dissipates after dispersion and, when use directions are followed, allows for the safe and rapid re-entry into a clean, contaminant-free vehicle.

One Simple Decision for the Ultimate Reassurance

To give you and your passengers the ultimate peace of mind that the vehicle is clean, fresh, and healthy, stop by your nearest participating dealership and ask for NuVinAir’s latest product, ReKlenz-X, which has received approval from the EPA as an eco-friendly disinfectant.

ReKlenz-X kills 99.9 percent of germs, bacteria, and viruses in a vehicle’s interior without compromising the integrity of the cabin. The product is on the EPA’s “List N,” which includes disinfectants for use to combat SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19.

To clean, the proprietary product uses an oxygen-enriched formula to quickly kills bacteria and viruses by destroying their cell walls through a process called oxidation. According to NuVinAir, ReKlenz-X contains no harsh chemicals, sticky residue, or dangerous volatile organic compounds. The result is a disinfected vehicle with no chemical smell.

ReKlenz-X is available in 32-ounce spray bottles through automotive dealerships, detail shops, rental-car companies, service centers, and vehicle fleets.
