Predicting 2021

Leading predictions for 2021. Woman wears a mask in backseat of vehicle.

The Cox Automotive group recently compiled several leading predictions, based on recent research, that will affect auto dealers and car buyers in the uncertain year ahead of us.  Here are just some of the research that supports their anticipated trends:

  1. Even with a Vaccine, Things Won’t “Return to Normal” in 2021

Surveys are revealing that 87 percent of consumers believe social distancing and masks will continue to be the norm throughout the upcoming year. Slightly less than half of consumers plan on receiving the vaccine in 2021. And, 54 percent of consumers believe there will be another mandated lockdown in the coming months.

  1. The Auto Industry Will Emerge Stronger from Pandemic

Just slightly less than half (49 percent) of franchised dealers believe their profits will be strong this year. Additionally, 24 percent of consumers and 45 percent of dealers think the automotive market will be better in 2021 than 2020.

  1. Inventory Will Remain Tight Through 2021

Only 29 percent of independent dealers think their inventory levels will return to pre-pandemic levels.

  1. 2021 is the Tipping Point for Digital Retailing

Eighty-four percent of franchise dealers believe customers will expect to complete the purchase process online more than ever before. Seventy-four percent believe they will not survive if they do not move to adopt digital retailing.

  1. In 2021, Vehicle Ownership will Increase; Ride-Sharing and Ride-Hailing will Decline

As they struggle with the fear of contagions, consumers now look on the cleanliness of taxis and ride-sharing with growing doubt. Ninety-three percent of dealers and consumers believe consumers will continue to expect strict cleanliness and sanitization from businesses in 2021. Thirty-five percent of consumers think a confirmation that their car has been sanitized is important when thinking about purchasing their next car. And, 22 percent of consumers actively look for an anti-microbial interior when thinking about their next car.

While NuVinAir cannot address all of these predictions, it does stand prepared to offer its solution to the rising expectations of consumers that vehicles be clean and sanitized before purchase.

To give their customers the peace of mind that their vehicles have been disinfected and cleaned with the safest and most advanced solutions in the industry, dealers are flocking to NuVinAir Global’s newest product—ReKlenz-X.  This EPA-approved, eco-friendly disinfectant kills 99.9% of germs, bacteria, and viruses without compromising a vehicle’s interior. The Dallas-based company, which offers a “Total Health” suite of proprietary vehicle-cleanliness solutions and hygienic consulting for automotive business, says ReKlenz-X is an oxygen-rich formula that quickly kills bacteria and viruses by destroying their cell walls through a process called oxidation. The product contains no harsh chemicals, sticky residue, or dangerous volatile organic compounds, resulting in a clean and disinfected vehicle with no chemical smell.
