To be Scottish and not love the game of golf or know how to swing a nine-iron would be akin to a sin by many. Thankfully, NuVinAir Houston’s newest franchise owner, Brian Ross, is far from that category. Ross has many passions and golf is close to the top of that list.
Ross and his wife, Katrina, left Scotland and came to the United States in the 1990s through his work in the Oil and Gas business. Ross was tasked with starting a North America division of a UK service company in the United States and he said it was akin to running a start-up business. He was directly responsible for hiring each employee, creating a team, and establishing the business. While Schlumberger a Global Oil and Gas Service Company, acquired the start-up company and merged it into the corporation, the thrill of entrepreneurism never left Ross’ heart.
Ross spent the next few decades in senior management roles for Schlumberger in North America and internationally. But, upon his retirement from the Oil and Gas business in 2018, Ross decided he was not ready to sit back and take it easy, so he began exploring the idea of returning to his entrepreneurial roots. He began looking at possible franchises, and entertained every business from hair salons to flooring companies. He was soon introduced to a franchise opportunity with an innovative fresh company called NuVinAir.
“I wanted to keep an open mind about all of these ventures so I spoke with all of those franchises and considered each of them. But, NuVinAir was by far the leading company that caught my attention the most. It also helped that I’m definitely a car guy,” said Ross. He explains that he was drawn to the innovative culture of the company.
“I was impressed by the focus and vision of the corporate team and I am motivated to work with this team to bring value to our customers through innovative products and services,” said Ross.
Ross has strategic plans to grow NuVinAir Houston by keeping his focus on two major areas of the automotive industry: car dealerships and rental car companies.
“We will also be attending local automobile trade shows in the upcoming months,” Ross added.
When Ross isn’t on the links or planning his next steps with NuVinAir, he enjoys snowboarding in New Mexico. He is also an avid runner and takes in a 10k every once in a while.
Ross and his wife live in Sugar Land, Texas and have three children, 19-year-old twins Finlay and Lucy and their 17-year-old son, Liam.
